Specification of this European Quality Long Stem Cryogenic Gate Valve
Cryogenic Gate valves are specially designed for gas treatment processes and storage and transportation of liquefied gasses such as LNG, liquid nitrogen, Oxygen,. Etc. These valves are required to be operated to give assured leakage rates. These valves which are recommended to use below -50⁰C are designed with a extended bonnet which separates the operator and stem seal from the cold temperature. 12” gas column is a standard feature for these valves. Extended bonnet as per MESC SPE 77/200 & SPE 77/209 can also be given. Cryogenic valves normally refer to valves with working temperature blow -110℃. It is widely used in LNG, LPG and other low temperature industry.Valves designed for cryogenic services, are specially prepared and designed to overcome these challenges. Appropriate component materials such as 304SS (CF8) and 316SS (CF8M) are normally used for body and trim, offering superior impact strength, and excellent corrosion resistance and heat loss properties. An extended bonnet and gas column design is also normally adopted to provide thermal insulation at the stem seal and stem packing area. At sufficient length, this design feature places the functionality of the stem seal in the vapor zone of the liquid media providing safe and continuous valve operation. A variety of body, trim, seat, and seal materials are available for use in cryogenic service. Customer specified options, such as body cavity vent hole, special extension lengths, and materials are also available upon request.

Cryogen leakage is not only dangerous, but also very expensive, especially when one considers the cost to make a gas into a cryogen in the first place.
The components of any valve (body, bonnet, stem, stem seals, ball, seats, etc.) will contract and expand at different rates because of different material composition or the amount of time exposed to the cryogen. When transporting a cryogenic substance like Liquefied Natural Gas--a liquid that wants to be a gas--extremely cold temperatures must be applied, as heat spikes can result in disaster. In other words, heat causes pressure. These temperatures fall well below refrigeration, which begins at -45 degrees Fahrenheit. This extreme cold presents another problem, as it causes the shrinkage and cracking of seals. To compensate, special seals, designed to handle temperatures -100 degrees F or colder, Cryogenic Gate Valve must be employed.
